Title
Open Source AV solution supporting In Situ Simulation and Clinical education
Background
Moving a simulation session away from the confinement of a simulation centre offers the participants a chance for a more realistic learning experience. However, this increase in realism offers some novel challenges on its own. In a simulation centre there will be audio-visual (AV) systems for video assisted debriefing (VAD). This feature is not ready at hand in an in situ simulation, so we decided to create one.
Summary of Work
The system is an open-source copyleft solution, where anyone is able to modify the code as they see fit. The code is built with PHP and MySQL running on an Apache 2.4 webserver, with extensive use of JavaScript (jQuery) in order to manipulate the user interface (browser).
The timetagging feature is made available through a JavaScript based web-application.
The hardware consists of 4 GoPro cameras and a laptop running on Windows 7.
Summary of Results
Conclusion
This system provides a solution to video assisted debriefing in a in situ simulation setting.
