Background

The intern year is a year of transition from medical student to doctor, and every effort need to be done to make this transition effective. Portfolio is an innovative approach to assist training and to evaluate the achieved competences by interns. Albaha Faculty of Medicine decided on a portfolio approach

Summary of Work

A series of workshops and meeting was held by the intern committee to develop the training objectives and identify  the required competences. The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties training objectives and competences were reviewed. The committee training objectives were then adapted to the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties training objectives.These objectives provided the framework for interns training and assessment

Summary of Results

In portfolios the interns should provide evidences of achieving these outcomes at the appropriate level expected of them their

 

Conclusion

AlBaha faculty of medicine responded  to the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties training objectives by developing a framework which provides the intern with educational template that identifies the core competencies around which they can structure their training
