Factors Contributing Medical Students Attitude in being Good Doctors |
The important of producing “good doctors” along with having professional behaviors has been emphasized in medical curricula. Buddhasothorn Medical Education Center aimed to produce doctors for rural residence of Thailand. We conducted a study to evaluate factors contributing medical students’ view of being good doctors.
A cross-sectional survey was administrated in undergraduate students(year 4th -6th) during the year 2014. We used 5 point likert scale in questionnaire which reliability was test(Cronbach alpha= 0.967) and linear regression model to analyze the result. We also evaluated attitudes in their future career comparing themselves between before-and after- being clinical students.
77 students returned their complete questionnaire(92.8%). Most students were female(62.3%), age between 21-23 year was 67.5%, higher GPA(above 3.00) was 67.5%.

We found no difference in gender, clinical year and age in all aspects of attitudes. Students who had higher GPA(above 3.00) reported significantly towards 6 aspect of attitudes(figure 1). The majority of students(19/21, 90.4%) who did not initially admire their future career improved their attitude during the clinical years.

Engagement of doctors in medical education can contribute changes in medical students’ attitudes in being good doctors.
Successful medical education is composed of multilevel of medical staffs.
