2II Evaluation of teaching/Educational research

INSTITUTION

Keio University school of medicine - Department of Musculoskeletal Reconstruction and Regeneration

Background

Despite the fact that many medical schools today utilize lecturers’ self-assessments and students’ lecture evaluations with the aim of improving course curricula, few studies have been reported regarding the difference between teachers and students in perception of a lecture evaluation.

Conclusion

A slight gap in the initial perceptions between the purpose of doing and attending a lecture seemed to decrease the relevance of the evaluation questionnaire.

As far as the adequacy of slides and handouts and the opportunity of questioning are concerned, teachers’ self-evaluations were more positive than those of the students.
